Yes, garlic is a natural antibiotic. Studies have revealed that it has antibacterial and antiviral properties, and it has been found to treat various diseases, particular infections. Garlic gets this magical touch because of the following:

·     A compound called allicin, which is produced when you crush it. Allicin has proven beneficial against MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (vancomycin resistant enterococci) infection.

·     Another compound called diallyl sulfide derived from garlic is found to be 100 times more effective than prescription antibiotics. It successfully fights campylobacter bacterium, which is responsible for food-borne illness.

You can try including garlic in your regular diet to derive these medicinal benefits. However, this should be in addition to the medications that your doctor prescribes.
