Shrimp is actually a nutritious choice for pregnant women for all trimesters. This is because, it is contains lots of irons and proteins. However, the main concern about consuming shrimp during pregnancy can be caused by the mercury content in the shrimps. While small seafood like shrimps may only contain mercury in traces, but it may affect the nervous system of the fetus in certain cases. Hence, for safety you can avoid shrimps in the first trimester at least.
