How can you make brown rice in a slow cooker?Next >>
I want to eliminate enriched white rice from my diet entirely. But, I have no luck making brown rice on the stove, so I thought maybe if I made it in a slow cooker it might come out better. To be honest, I was not raised on rice at all so I don't even really know how brown rice is supposed to taste when it is done. Mine comes out chewy, and kind of hard. I know it supposed to have a nutty taste, but I don't even taste that, lol I am at war with rice, haha. I do like rice. The ones I have tried. Most of which I got out of an Uncle Bens box, or from a Chinese restaurant, lol. So help! How can I make brown rice in a crock pot/slow cooker?
You can cook brown rice in slow cooker by adding 2:2 ratio of rice and water. If you want to cook 2 cups of rice, add 4 cups of water totally (2 cups of water for each cup of rice). Add salt to taste, stir, and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours. You could also halve the amount of water and replace it with the same amount of chicken broth.
