Parsnip is often prescribed in detox food diets. This root vegetable, which looks similar to carrot, contains several essential minerals and vitamins. It is believed to help detoxify the body in the following ways:

·               Although there is insufficient evidence, it is considered to be good for the stomach and kidneys.

·               It provides a diuretic action by pushing the toxins out of the system.

·               It also helps with the functioning of the liver, which is an organ that naturally detoxifies the body.

·               However, parsnip has to be peeled before cooking as the peel itself could contain natural toxins that might cause a stomach ache.
