Stevia is a sweetleaf herb, which acts as a natural sweetener and can be effectively used as a sugar substitute. Unlike artificial sweeteners available in the market, stevia is good for people suffering from diabetes. It has zero calories and does not make your sugar levels fluctuate.  Stevia extract is available in the market in packet form and can be used to make hot drinks, smoothie, pudding, cracker etc. You can use it as follows:

·     It is about 300 times sweeter than sugar. So you need to be careful when trying to use this.

·     You can use approximately 1 teaspoon of stevia to substitute 1 cup of sugar.

·     If you are using a liquid form of stevia, you can use 5 to 10 drops for 1 tablespoon of sugar.

·      However, do taste the sugar level as you do this and adjust accordingly. It is 300 times sweeter than sugar.
