Ground ginger root powder has an extremely sharp, spicy, hot, and even mildly fruity flavor. Ginger powder has the characteristic flavor & aroma of fresh ground ginger. This high quality ground ginger powder can easily be substitute for freshly grated ginger by substituting 1/8 teaspoon of finely ground ginger powder for every tablespoon of fresh ginger. To make powdered ginger, you can dry ginger by peeling it, slicing it thinly or grating it, then placing the shards in a dehydrator or on a mesh in a very cool oven or in a warm, dry location in a room, turning it once daily until dry. At that point, you could use a spice grinder to produce your very own powdered ginger.
