Meat can be tenderized in simple alternate ways at home.
1. A meat mallet commonly made of wood may be used to pound the meat pieces to make them tender.
2. The meat may be coated with meat tenderizers which are powders made from the enzymes of fruits such as pineapple and papaya. The enzymes sever the hard fibers in meat.
3.The meat may be soaked in a marinate in a glass container and marinated for about 2 hours. Acidic agents such as vinegar, citric acid or wine may be used in the marinate. Tough cuts of meat may be kept in the marinate for more hours.
