Split peas are very reputed for being high in proteins and low in fat, sodium and cholesterol. Here are some of the other reasons on why older people should essentially include it in their diet:

- has thiamine compound that supports fatty acid sysnthesis, that otherwise gets diminished in older people

- presence of mangnese in it is yet another reason for heat generation in our body
