Studies indicate that cooked asparagus is better, nutrition wise. While raw food advocates vouch that any food eaten raw is healthy, research suggests otherwise. A study done at Cornell University states that cooking unlocks more nutrients for us, than eating them raw. The reasons are as follows:

·     While cooking, the heat softens the thick cell walls of the plant to unlock more nutrition, especially antioxidants. These antioxidants were found lower in a group of people who consumed only raw food.

·     Boiling and steaming are best cooking methods than frying, which leaches away the nutrition.

·     Taste wise, most people prefer the cooked version than the raw version.
