Yes, it can. Coriander, also called cilantro, has been known for its health benefits for over a century. It is widely used in cooking, mainly to assist with food digestion. It is also effective against nausea and provides pain relief. Its antibacterial properties were recently proved by a study done in the University of Florida, where coriander oil was used on 12 bacterial strains. The results showed reduction in the number of bacteria, with most of them being killed. How was this possible?

·     Coriander damaged the membrane that surrounded the bacterial cell.

·     This inhibited all the important processes, including respiration of the bacteria, which eventually killed them.
