Poi is a Polynesian food made from taro root. It is widely consumed in Hawaii and made by first cooking the corm of the taro root and then mashing it by adding water.  Poi is considered to have several health benefits such as the following:

·     The taro root used in poi is rich in fiber and helps with digestion.

·     It is gluten free and is good for people with gluten allergy and celiac disease.

·     Being zero in cholesterol, it is highly recommended for people with heart disease.

·     It contains other minerals such as potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure and manganese which is necessary for healthy bones.
