Pots de Creme refers to custard dessert and the small lidded pots this dessert is served in. Pots de creme, or pot-au-creme is a French term for "pot of cream". This dessert is made with one whole egg to every five egg yolks for 2 1/2 to 3 cups of liquid. A dessert made with these basic proportions result in a barely firm custard. Therefore this custard is served in small pots called ramekins.
