Marinara is a tomato-based Italian sauce, which is made in olive oil with garlic and other ingredients that can easily be available to fishermen. This is the reason why it is often confused with have some meat or seafood in its ingredients. However, it does not include any seafood. Tomato sauce, on the other hand, is purred tomatoes.
