The French diet is considered one of the healthiest in the world and it is the French attitude toward eating and diet may be the reason the French have lower rates of obesity and heart disease, despite regular consumption of high-fat meats and dairy products.

The main source of proteins in the French diet include milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, fish, chicken and other game meat (less of beef and pork) and eggs.

French diets contain many high-protein, albeit high-fat, foods such, cheese, cream, goose, duck, etc yet it is considered a healthy way of eating. While the French regularly enjoy these foods, the portions are 10% to 30% smaller than a typical American portion.

French cuisine use several healthy cooking methods such as poaching, steaming, baking, braising, boiling and pan cooking.

You can find several French recipes on the site under the "French" tab of Cuisine.
