Applesauce contains natural sugars and hence can add to the sweetness of a baked dish. However owing to its physical characteristics, it must be carefully assertained in recipes. In recipes such as cookies, brownies and muffins, upto two thirds of the sugar can be replaced by applesauce. In cakes it would be appropriate to use half cup of sugar and 3/4 cup of applesauce.
