There are certain factors which makes something microwave safe. These factors are transparency, absorption and moisture. You can use the plastic in microwave because a microwave passes easily through it. There are glasses such as unglazed glass ceramic which do not absorb heat and as such microwave safe. You can also use the wood and straw products in the microwave as long as they are not dry and overheated.
